Q&A: Windows 7 vs Windows XP Home On Netbooks
June 18th, 2010 by admin

In this video, I answer a question from phillymaniac14 who wants to know my thoughts on Windows XP performance versus Windows 7 performance on my netbooks. I own an HP Mini 1000 while my wife owns a HP Mini Vivienne Tam edition. Both of these are equipped with 2GB of RAM, but my wife still has Windows XP Home and I have Windows 7 Beta. My tests are hardly scientific but I've found that the extra memory definitely helps Windows 7 performance with full screen flash videos. As it stands, Windows 7 and Windows XP full screen flash video performance seem to be identical. With lessar RAM, Windows XP performed better. There are many factors to consider when comparing OS's especially with a beta OS such as Windows 7. There's also Flash software, browser versions and compatibility issues that may need to be adjusted on Windows 7. A very early test, but it was interesting to note. I hope this answers your question phillymaniac14. If you have any other questions you'd like me to attempt to entertain, email me at help@bwana.tv

    Microsoft seems to have forgot that an operating system is just for running other programs,

    GPU = NOT RAM

    You sound intelligent but you don’t understand what the fuck you are talking about.

    Download the same file on each at the same time and see which one does it faster.

    @Bayonetta4 That makes good sense. At least 7′s less of a resource hog than vista.

    real win 7 home and windows 7 ultimate there is real no different between the 2

    @BecuzIt thats true, but think about it.. with the same hardware where 7 is running with the speed of light.. XP would be invisible.. they should make OSes like that – to take as less memory as possible so games and programs could work on their fullest.. i remember reading on the Blizzard WoW forum an idiot who has 8GB ram machine with Vista just to play WoW, well my laptop has 3GB and wether i run Linux, XP or 7 on it, i can play WoW on the highest

    @Bayonetta4 the thing is as time progresses better hardware on new machines becomes standard so windows 7 works fine on any new machine.

    could someone please answer my question?

    installing windows 7 on a netbook is like installing OS on a calculator….
    windows 7 is a resource hog – no matter how i “cut” it an “clean” it up.. its still the same – stop the themes and other services from starting up… etc.
    yet, i cant achieve the performance of XP and i still think XP is the best windows OS ever – they shouldnt stop it from support, but instead keep on improving it – performance, security, skins, themes, sounds, hardware compatiblity… etc.
    thats my point of view
