I have used Norton Antivirus before. It’s a great product. I liked the fact that it came in two days after I ordered it. Thank you so much amazon, I will use this site in the near future.

Let me start by saying; I do technical support for a living. There are 2 things you need to understand about anti-virus software that I have to explain on a daily basis:

    1. It’s not perfect. NO ONE makes a perfect anti-virus. NO ONE. Why not, you ask? Because there is a guy in Romania making a new virus as you read this and no one can think of every possibility, let alone know what that guy is cooking up. If it could be done, Microsoft would have these guys on the payroll. No one can protect you from every type of virus that has been or may be conceived. It’s impossible.

    2. If you don’t keep your subscription current, you need to uninstall the software to actually use the internet. This means that if you barely know how to turn on your computer, this will hold your computer hostage. Yes, they hold your computer hostage for ransom to the amount of a new account subscription.

If you know what not to download and what is OK to download, you don’t need Anti-virus software. If you have no idea what an “Active X control” is, then you really have no way of knowing if you should allow it to function or even download it in the first place. Because of those two facts, you don’t need Anti-Virus software at all.

However, you might want this if you download from illegal bit torrents. You know, pirated software? People who make viruses prey on people who steal via torrent sites, so by all means, get some protection if you do that sort of thing. At least you can pay someone for their honest work.

I purchased NAV 2009 from Amazon in March 2009 and was very happy with the price, shipping and product functionality. In June 2009 the NAV IPS function stopped working ( a minor component) due to a FireFox upgrade. It took a month for Norton to fix this partly because FireFox kept updating their versions during the same period. Norton responded by updating my NAV2009 to NAV2010 for FREE. I am using XP SP3 and have not had any viruses, or any other incidents since installing NAV2009 and the upgrade to NAV2010. I do not detect any slow down of my system. I like this product a lot and have renewed my subscription for another year. I also own Norton Ghost and back up frequently. If a virus should get through I know that a restore from back up is available. The first rule of computing is “Thou shall make back ups”. I am a loyal customer to Norton products because they work for me.

Norton AV 2010 works for me! I have been using Norton products for several years with great results. No problem install and tech support will guide you through if necessary. It installs easily and you can customize how you wish! How much easier can it be? I recommend this product highly

I bought the Norton 2010 Anti Virus because I’d had it before, last year. It is an “all in one” package that includes: antivirus, anti spyware, bot protection and browser protection. The package seems to run very quietly and can catch a majority of problems. They are fairly good about customer support up to a point. . . . . . . so this is the good news.

The bad news is if you receive a new virus that they don’t recognize, they won’t help you and much to my amazement, they could remove the virus for an additional $99 charge! If I had to pay the full price that Notron would have me pay for this kit I would not have “bitten” due to the above practice. And so I had to buy another package to remove something they they would not do as part of their package. So if you can get this Norton 2010 for an inexpensive price, it will do a C Plus or B Minus type of job for you and you get a firewall out of it. Norton Antivirus 2010 is no panacea.
