Truth be told, unless you are a PC gamer, you only need like 1.6 GHZ processor and 1 GB or RAM. The average user doesn’t need spectacular hardware.
Which is why most people don’t use a Mac. Right now a Mac book costs $999. Why spend that when you can get a PC laptop for half that with similar (maybe a little bit inferior) specs.
For my computing needs the cost is not justified.
Maybe if I wanted a high end all in one I would consider an iMac. But until then, there is just no need.
@GamerMaster2041 your right, Both have there advantages and disadvantages but i prefer windows just because i can build my own desktop with parts that are best for me and if it gets old hey i just replace what ever that holds me back and its cheaper

@thedarklordx Well, since he wants a laptop for school that has longer battery life, he should get the mac. And it doesnt have to bad performance, it has a core 2 duo and so does the other computer, the only difference is that the PC has a better graphics card. But if it is for school he doesnt need a good graphicscard. Plus the PC has 3 hour battery and the mac has 8 hour battery
@thedarklordx I tried that during the days when I used Windows 2K and XP. I used Norton antivirus then I switched to Avira antivirus, all to spy boot, etc I even used a deep freeze program but still trojans and trojan-like viruses still penetrate to my system. I so sick using Windows OS, you have to take care of everything delicately like a baby on your computer.
Anyway, my point is that if your sick taking care of your PC go dual boot with any *nix and *nix-like OS with your Windows OS.

@juliusbumaat so what if you get a virus most viruses dont do anything until they pile up and slow down your computer some do something on the spot but alot dont boo hoo you got a virus who cares get a decent anti virus run a scan delete go back to maplestory simple

I prefer Mac after long Windows use because firstly, its a different new fresh look but thats just me. I also prefer mac because its more advance and is much much more reliable, there computers are nicer and also have less viruses and never crash apart from the usual Secure Empty Trash big file problem where you have to force quit Finder and the occasional Safari crash. But i have had much less problems than windows. There more revolutionary have better products and run much better. I choose Mac
macs are for people who dont have computer knowledge. windows is for everyone. thats why i use a pc
im not an apple fanboy, but i enjoy macs, but i use windows 7. i personaly think the windows platform is better. of course excluding vista. but i am using windows 7, which i like a lot better than snow leopard.

to make software Mac exclusive even though it’d be able to run on a PC if made to. so all in all they’re more or less the same, you get half the hardware for double the price with a Mac. but it all evens out. (Alienware 11″ netbook would put the macbook in it’s place lol)

PCs are great for gamers, more video cards available, almost none of the “budget” (or lower priced) macs even have an I3, I5, or I7 quad-core processor, only their ALL IN ONEs and SERVERS have them, meaning you’re stuck with dated dual-core processors if you want one of their laptops, for the same price you can get an Asus Republic of Gamers 15″ laptop for $1500 that would demolish any mac of the same price hands down. Macs are better for editing i guess as the owner payed companies (next post)
i can’t wait till more people get macs and it’s more worth it to make viruses for them and all the Mac owners go ” SHIT WHAT NOW?! i have this $1000 13″ piece of shit that’s got a virus!!!!!”
anyway, OSX is more efficient, but you pay a lot more for computer to run it, it all equals out, you can have 2GB RAM with a W7 PC and 1GB RAM with OSX and get the same performance for the same price, PCs are FAR more upgradable and have more expandability as a result. (continue in next post)
@Sinani201 You’re right, the main reason I switched to Linux is the viruses. No matter how I configure Windows OS to make it virus resistant, still viruses can penetrate into my PC and for me the Windows OS itself is really a third rate software.
I suggest you go on dual boot windows with Ubuntu Linux if you cannot live without PC games.

Well not necessarily since my knowledge in computer is just C/C+ (grade from A to F, A is the highest). And im not a heavy gamer after all. I just use my PC as my audio and video editing/conversion, some little games, browsing the web, documents, editing pictures, etc.
I’d like Ubuntu Linux and other Linux distros because they’re fast and virus-resistant, and uses less resources.
