Apple support is fabulous. No hassle repair or replacement. Customer service agents and tech support is fast and easy. Well worth the cost.

The price is better than at the Apple Store, and good to have since a Laptop is more prone to failures and are more expensive to repair than a desktop.

I have APP on my MacBook and my battery went bad and I called Applecare and they told me the battery was not covered. They said that it was considered normal wear and that Applecare does not cover batteries . . so, the logic that one battery pays for applecare isn’t true because I had to buy Applecare and a brand new battery at 125+tx. I rated APP 4 stars though bc I had a problem with my disc drive ruining DVDs and I sent it in by mail and had it back two days later fixed and they replaced the entire casing on my Macbook (a big plus) gotta love service like that. Just wish it covered accidentals.

    I’m updating this review – 5/21/2010.

If you read below I said I would go to the Apple store and see what they say about the plan’s different numbers. Well, surprise, surprise for me coming from the Windows world. They were very casual about the whole thing and didn’t care about the numbering of the plans, just as long as it was a 13″ MacBook Pro plan, which is what Mac_Pro_Online said. I guess everyone in the Mac world is real casual about the specific numbers, maybe it’s a California thing.

Anyway, they said I was OK with the plan I had. They didn’t even look at the specific number, only the gray part which said 13 inches. So I guess if you want to save a few dollars buy from who sells it the cheapest. Apple doesn’t care about detailed plan numbers, only the specific size of the computer itself.

I still have to register it. So if there are any problems I’ll post another update other wise you shouldn’t hear anything more from me. For now Mac_Pro_Online is OK, but I still wish they would let you know if your order couldn’t be fulfilled exactly as ordered and give you the option of continuing or not.

I thought I had bought AppleCare Protection Plan MC258LL/A – For Portable Apple Computers 13. 3 Inches and Below when I placed my order and in fact that’s what it says on the invoice. However, I went with the cheaper price from Mac_XXX_Online to save 4 dollars instead of Amazon. I knew that Mac_XXX_Online had another package listed which was older it was listed for only 2 dollars less in savings (counting the shipping costs) than the MC258LL/A. It seemed to not make much sense for the older package selling more than the new one. But I thought they probably just were selling the new plans and hadn’t gotten around to fixing their pricing. Boy was I wrong about that. Therefore, I stayed away from that older package and went with the newer MC258LL/A plan from Mac_XXX_Online, so I thought. However what I received from them was the older MC246LL/A plan for the older 13 in MacBooks, just what I didn’t want and tried to avoid. I bought a new 13. 3 in MacBook Pro so I wanted the plan that matched it exactly so there would be no trouble from the Mac store.

After talking with the Mac_XXX_Online they said that they just throw what ever they have into an order and don’t even look at the numbers, because they say it doesn’t matter. They say there should be no difference when I register it. Whether it’s 13 inches or 13. 3 inches it’s the same they say. It’s if it was a whole different size, i. e. , 15 inches then it would matter. So old number plans are good for newer models they say. I’m going to go the Apple Store tomorrow and see what they say.

Mac_XXX_Online maybe right but they should send you what you ordered and not what they have. BTW, they sell this older plan on their website even cheaper for what they sell it for on Amazon. So if you really want the older plan buy it directly from them and save more money. So I’m really mad, not only I didn’t get what I wanted, what they sent me they sell cheaper on their website. That’s getting the business from them twice. I don’t like being deceived, so buy the MC258LL/A plan from Amazon and you’ll get what you ordered not what they have as you would with Mac_XXX_Online (which they sell cheaper on their website, too).

I always purchase my Apple Care from Amazon, cheaper that buying it up front with the purchase of a new computer. I have never had a problem activating or using this product purchased from Amazon that some have encountered (or so I’ve read).

I’m not big on extended warranties for the most part, but I have had to use Apple Care on my white Macbook and Macbook Air. I live close to an Apple Store and the use of the warranty for repairs has always been smooth.
