The HTC Desire : A Short Guide
August 21st, 2010 by Sam-Frea

Following in the footsteps of the amazing HTC Legend, HTC looks to improve their standing even further with their new Android phone, the HTC Desire. The HTC Sense OS makes it extremely easy to use right out of the box, and you can make up to seven home screens with all of the applications you could possibly need, while backing it up with the powerful 1GHz Snapdragon processor.

If you have an application open, you can just scroll across the screen's bottom with your finger in order to activate the app's features. You can even use this with the music, contacts and messaging screens if you wish, allowing you to switch to whatever music track you want to play. Movies are played back with crystal clarity with the 3.7" screen that gives you access to your favorite films on the go.

With the Desire, you get 576MB or RAM and 512MB of ROM. The 1,400mAh battery pack lets you run the phone for hours on end without running out, and the microUSB and 3.5mm headphone ports make connecting it to your devices even easier. With the HTC Desire, you even get a 5 megapixel camera, complete with an LED flash and autofocus, so you can take photos and video at an alarming resolution, with movies recorded at 800x400.

While you might not be able to fit much into the 512 MB of memory included with the phone, you can expand another 16GB of space onto the phone with the right micro SD card. The 3.7" touchscreen makes it among the biggest displays you can find on an Android phone. The AMOLED panel can create bright, colorful palettes, and the Sense UI will allow you to get the most out of that display.

The HTC Desire measures about 119 x 60 x 11.9 mm and you can tell from just holding it that it is well-made. The phone's housing feels solid and features sturdy buttons and a soft-touch back to improve the phone's grip and feel. The phone also features four hardware keys and an optical mouse. All of the phone's hardware is easy to use and provides an overall better functionality than other phone models of a similar caliber.
