I am puzzled as to how most all the other reviewers got good volume from these speakers. Like E. Jung, I find that the volume is barely better than the built in speakers on my Pavilion Win XP notebook. Disappointing, I thought this was going to solve my notebook volume is too low problem. Waste of money, imho. They are cute, tho.

I wanted a speaker to improve the terribly weak sound of my Laptop. These speakers were barely any louder. It is a pain to watch movie from my laptop with this speaker. However, expect for the poor volume, others were good!

My bulky Dell speakers were on their last days so I decided to check Amazon for some new speakers. I ran across these HP Mini speakers and just took a chance on them. When I received them, my first thought was, “uh oh. I didn’t know they would be this small. ” In reality, their size is deceiving. After plugging the speakers into my laptop, I heard such great sound quality. The speakers come with a travel case so you can bring them anywhere. Also, the speakers’ volume syncs with the volume of the computer. They also don’t need to be plugged into the wall so you can save outlet space. I would recommend these speakers to anyone looking for great sound quality, but have no need for big massive speakers.

Was looking for small speakers to use in my classroom with powerpoint presentations. The pair I had were larger and were a pain to try to fit into my computer bag. Got these not expecting much but willing to try them. They were AWESOME! Sound was crisp & clear. Very small and compact. Hope they last because so far I love them.

The built-in speakers on my Dell laptop are just plain awful. When trying to listen to music or media I found myself leaning over the keyboard straining to hear it. I wanted a pair of USB speakers that delivered decent sound, yet were portable enough to throw in my laptop bag. After reading several reviews I decided to order the HP USB Mini Speakers. When they arrived they were even SMALLER than I had imagined, yet when I plugged them in I was rewarded with fantastic sound, certainly better than a pair of speakers THIS small and at this price point have a right to be. The speakers easily play loudly enough to provide audio for presentations, in say a conference room of a dozen or so. They can play music loudly enough where I can be one or two rooms away and still listen. Obviously they play well enough for me to listen to music or watch movies or media while sitting in front of my laptop. The quality of the sound is nice and very full, not tinny as I feared they might be. They might lack a bit of bass but considering the size they’re outstanding. They come in a zip-up case that all together is roughly the size of a stack of index cards. Much has been made about the wires for these speakers. I agree the wiring could have been done better. Why do you really need a speaker cable AND a USB cable when other speakers just use the USB cable? But overall it’s not that much of an issue and I don’t find the cables cause any issue with placement. The bottom line is these speakers deliver performance equal to any computer speakers I’ve purchased for less than $30 and truthfully MUCH better than most, factor in their small size and portability and they are the perfect choice for those of us stuck with lousy laptop speakers.
