I believe like the commodore 128, the 40/80 button switches the resolution from 40 column to 80 column. The Commodore 128 needed an RGB monitor to support 80 column. I don’t know about the apple 2c though.

I was bidding on a Apple II C once but I lost the auction. I ended up getting a Macintosh SE instead.

Great review man, love all your reviews. When I was growing up we had a commodore amiga 2000. I dont know too many details about that computer, but that thing lasted and was very reliable. My dad bought it in 1987 and we didnt get ride of it untill 1999.

I played Zany golf and f14 strike eagle and some sort of astoriod game alot. I was a really neat computer, wish I could have kept it. Keep up the good work man!

what computer do you use as a general all purpose computer?

I never saw that, but then again the model we used was called “europlus” which is probably slightly different to the US one.

@richardmaudsley77 The joysticks for the original ][ and ][ Plus did require you to pop the lid to plug it in, even on the later machines (even the IIGS) that provided an external port. (But, they didn't work on the //c, because they didn't have the same port, without making an adapter.)

What’s really cool about your monitor, it’s actually in color. My Apple IIc came with that green monochrome monitor. I had to wait until the IIgs came out to get a color monitor. :)

The Apple IIGS was my favorite Apple II computer.

You never had to open it up to plug in a joystick. Your friend just had a busted computer.

    Phone port is modem.

    Wow you are wrong.

They’ve been five button plus 360 degree scroll since 2005. Now they are multi touch surface mice. Plus They’ve supported right click from the early 90′s.

    FUD attempt FAILED!

I had one of these growing up too. Mine had the “correct” green screen monitor with the stand that wrapped around the CPU. I learned my first bit of programming on this.

The Apple II did indeed include support for Dvorak layout in its ROM. However, the keyboard in the video is clearly QWERTY which is now THE STANDARD keyboard layout.

2 buttons were needed and were widely available for a long time sold separately, but the thing would not SHIP with them..

  • cmarshall1018 writes:

no because in those 30 years the operating system was so easy to use it did not need a second button

  • duhmez writes:

I stand corrected. It took the geniuses at aple only 30 YEARS to realize 2 buttons on a mouse is a good idea.

  • cmarshall1018 writes:

no they ship with 2 button mice it started in late 2007

  • duhmez writes:

It’s now 2009 and Apple computrs STILL ship with lousy one button mice.
