Playing Music In Ventrilo (With Windows 7/Vista Fix and Bot Tutorial)
October 8th, 2010 by admin

With the help of two other programs, you can play music to others in Ventrilo while speaking to them at the same time. Your music will be very high quality and no other sounds on your computer will be picked up. Song is Mystery by Station X Full VAC Download: www.megaupload.com Buy it if you like it! Support the developer! Winamp: www.winamp.com Other Media Players that work Foobar2000: www.foobar2000.org Xion xion.r2.com.au Let me know if you find any others that work. BEFORE YOU ASK FOR HELP, READ THE VAC.CHM FILE INCLUDED IN THE DOWNLOAD! IF YOU WANT TO RUN A MUSIC BOT, READ HERE Create a Shortcut for Ventrilo, right click it and hit properties. At the end of the "Target" box, add "-m" without the quotes so the shortcut target now reads "C:\Program Files\Ventrilo\Ventrilo.exe" -m This allows you to open more than one Vent at the same time with the shortcut. Open two vents. Configure one the way you'd normally use it, with your microphone as the Input. Make the other Vent (your bot) use VAC's Line 1 for its Input. Configure Winamp as shown in the video. No Audio Repeaters are needed for this setup. Get both of your Vent clients into the same server and channel. Be sure to check "Mute Sound" on your bot's Vent window. Now when you play music in Winamp, your bot will play it and you can listen through Vent along with your friends. HERE'S ANOTHER OPTIONAL TUTORIAL TO ALLOW YOU TO PLAY AUDIO FROM OTHER SOURCES: First you have to open up everything you DO NOT want audio ...

Now please note that this probably won’t work well with songs with entirely too much bass (Drum N Bass) or a lot of high pitch stuff (Techno) as they rely on those parts too much. Also, you might want to test VAC in Ventrilo just to see that it really is HoN distorting the music. If Vent is crystal clear, you know you have to modify the song in some way in order to get a decent sound in HoN. And remember, you probably won’t ever be able to get the music in game to sound as good as Vent.

Now it might not be related to this, but I’m gonna guess it is. If you look up Half Life DJ on Google you’ll find the program usually used to play music through Valve games. Don’t use this program, but look around in the Tips and Tricks section of their forums. There you can usually find methods to reduce bass and distortions that may happen in game. Now of course I’m not entirely sure this would work for HoN, but you can try it.

I haven’t played HoN in a while but this may be related to the voip quality it has. If you’ve ever played a game by Valve (Counter Strike, Team Fortress 2, etc) and tried to play music through that, you’ll see that the quality is drastically different from real voip clients like Ventrilo or Mumble. They’re usually geared more towards voices rather than clean, crisp sound. That means bass, very high pitches, and other drastic changes in the music don’t usually come out very well.

I tried using this to play music in a game called Heroes of Newerth which like ventrillo allows me to change the input and outputs. It worked but the music the other players were hearing was really choppy and nearly unrecognizable, any tips or asolution to this problem would be appreciated thanks.

Thanks for this Tutorial first. Lots of ppl on my vent liked it.
Anyways, all say that its kinda bad quality . Well not really bad but also not really good.
I keep getting static like with a mic although I have set it up exactly like in the tutorial.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I’d assume you could, yeah. Not sure how thatd work though. Like would you use a midi keyboard and directly input it into the program? I’m not sure how that stuff works to be honest, I don’t play keyboard.

You didn’t download VAC from the link in the description or you already had the trial version installed on your PC. Fully uninstall VAC and then download and install the one in the description. The one there is the full version.

Kind of a vague problem so I guess just try double checking your inputs and outputs. Also try running a music bot if you aren’t already as explained in the description. You can narrow down the issue that way.

Everything is working great apart from 1 small thing. The music is playing and other people can hear it, but they can’t hear me talking. Help would be great :)
