Microsoft is overrun with issues. . . they keep putting out new operating systems and upgrades without tech support (or such poor quality support, it leaves you stranded). . . . . they completely destroyed my new computer (2005) when I was pushed into getting explorer 7 (from explorer 6 with windows xp)
I am totally convinced they have completely lost it. . . . . I have a computer now that (Microsoft) thinks I don’t have genuine Microsoft software. . . I can’t get upgrades and they will not fix this issue (which they caused). . . Now they have taken “Microsoft Plus” off of windows XP and want you to buy it. (note this was a free add-on when I purchased XP. . . . . . . .
This company is making a lot less money in this economy and will pass it on to customers, rather than stockholders. . . . . . Well, they are not getting my buck anymore. . . . . . . future systems for me, will be Apple

beware of Microsoft!!!! they do not support their product and leave you with expensive, never-ending alternatives. . .

Installation is more than a pain:

    1. At times during installation, at certain phases the screen “goes dead” for a long time; no timer, no nothing- you would think the PC hang/dead, and you wasted your time.
    2. Installation from a USB flash drive is even worse: it went into a never ending loop: installing and reinstalling (from the start!), by itself reboot after reboot. ( XP PRO installed on C, and trying to clean install Windows7 on D. )

If this is supposed to be an improvement over vista; I can’t wait to see when bugs and flaws start showing up in droves!

That will be the day if Google makes “Missoft” miss the bend in the road. . . I am pretty sure that day will come! But when? That is the million dollars question!

The only worthwhile thing so far is the Homegroup, which is really nothing more than networking PCs using the same OS. . . only works on PC with W7 installed. . . in that case you don’t have to configure the network which can be a real pain!

Windows 7 should have been made free for Vista users, considering its their bloody OS thats been the problem, this should have been free as a repair!

I instaled the upgrade on a Vista laptop. It installed but it can’t search for WiFi. I worked for hours and hours to figure out the issue. Must be a driver not compatible with 7. Wasn’t 7 supposed to solve compatibility issues? I have talked with Microsoft several times and also the retailer of the software. I haven’t found any drivers from Gateway that has helped. Will have to get there tech support on the phone. So much for an easy install.

Update: I have talked to Gateway support and they confirmed that the WiFi card of my 1. 5 year old Vista Laptop is NOT compatible with Win 7. They HOPE it will be in a few months. So all the spin out there that any Vista machine is compatible with Win 7 shouldn’t be taken at face value. Sounds like the same stuff/ different day is alive and well at MS.

Update 2: I have been looking for a wireless USB adapter that is supported by Windows 7. So far no luck.

Purchased this product, and two days later price droped $15 Amazon would not refund the difference, will never shop with them again. For the shear fact of their terrible India based customer service, when will companies learn that this type of customer service is a complete failure and will continue to cause them to spend more money on supporting people. Never buy Amazon. Oh the product is awesome.
