    Original Posting (03/16/2010)

My first 2 hours into the game, and the nagging question persists: what is going on?!

The story line is weak, and has no logical sequence to it. One moment I am fighting skeleton-like ghosts, the next some mega-horse attacks me with 2000-gallon-per-minute stream of water shooting out of its mouth and nostrils! Little I knew Kratos was allergic to water?!

Also, the fighting (thus far) requires no skills: just press those buttons as fast as you could. That’s it.

I bought the game based on the fact that I love war games. Also, the myriad of raving reviews online helped me make up my mind, especially when comparisons were drawn against “Uncharted 2: Among Thieves”. I thought heck, if I loved Uncharted then I am going to idolize God of War III. Wrong.

So far, Uncharted 2 beats God of War III in every aspects. The graphics, music, combat, mysteries and story line. Also, Uncharted 2 was amazing in duplicating actual scenic views of Tibet and Nepal. What is God of War III trying to depict, ancient Greece? Not quite.

    Update (03/17/2010)

Thank you, everyone, for the comments. Your excitement for the game is really appreciated.

It is good to see other people passionate enough about something to actually taking the time to defend it. But let’s just continue to remember that everyone is entitled to their opinion. Just because you disagree with someone should not automatically label them as an XBox “fanboy”. Well, I am not a fanboy; in fact, I do love my PS3 and PS1.

And in the same spirit, I will not trash other people’s opinions, either. They are entitled to theirs. I just wish that they try and keep it civil, that’s all.

I thought some comments did add real value to the discussion thread, especially the ones posted by DDustiNN and Evan. I must agree, more appreciation for the game may come with time, but it definitely failed me with first impressions.

To those who are still researching the game, I did mine quite well before deciding to buy it. I learned a good deal about depth, texture, HDRL and 4-axis navigation. I also learned about the story line and how it focuses on Kratos’ quest for vengeance. The reviews were stellar, especially those on CNET and PlayStation Magazine. But actual game playing was far less than stellar for the reasons I mentioned yesterday.

I will try and sell the game on EBay while the fever is ongoing. Maybe I could get 30 or 40 dollars back.

Didn’t blow me away, this game has been way over hyped. I hated the fixed camera, staring at a wall during a boss fight is so not cool. It was also pretty short I would recommend just renting it. Over all just blah.

First off I’ve never played this game or any of the previous installments. I have however heard that there is a great deal of blood and gore, and even a sequence where the gray guy, Kratos I think, ripped of some guys head and that it was quite a bloody affair. I’m sick and tired of having to go through games with barrels of blood spilled on the floor. What happened to nice games on the PS2 like Kingdom Hearts 2, that game was fun and there was no blood! If the blood was removed from this game I might consider playing it but I will not have bloody games being played in my house. I mean I have no problem with Mythology and actually like it alot, but seriously, who needs blood to get a story across? I mean I played Batman Arkhum Asylum, was there blood, no, was it excellent, HECK YA! So if you ask me, Batman owns Kratos! Sorry I meant Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep, not Splinter Cell Conviction, I apologize for that.

Can someone please start making video games with more depth!? What’s the point of having Bluray discs with all that space on them if you’re going to release this kind of stuff? The graphics and ‘levels’ on this game are extremely lame looking, the overall art and look of the game is horrible, the story is ridiculous as well. You’re basically paying for industry hyped garbage. Go with a genre bending game like Heavy Rain. Uncharted 2 even blows this game out of the water on all fronts.
